Located just three kilometers outside of central Copenhagen the atmosphere at the swim start on race morning is electric!

The swim is held in the artificial lagoon at Amager Strandpark. The calm waters at the beach park offer great potential for fast swim times.

Three low bridges crossing the lagoon and a shallow seaboard make up for a perfect location for both athletes and spectators. From the surrounding seaboard spectators can follow their favorite athletes most of the way round the swim course.

Swim Smart Checklist

An open-water swim in a triathlon is substantially different from swimming in a pool. To alleviate stress, it’s important that you arrive on race day healthy, fit and prepared. Here’s a checklist to help get you ready.

Facts

  • Water temperature between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius
  • Wetsuits are mandatory
  • Fastest swim time is 45.22 set by Fredrik Seistrup and Stephen Bayliss in 2011.

How to get there

The Copenhagen Metro is only a few hundred meters from Amager Standpark. This makes it is easy for athletes, family members and spectators to travel to and from the swim start. After the swim spectators have easy access to the hot spots on the bike and run courses via the metro and S-train network.
